Learn to Climb

Indoor Climbing is rapidly growing in popularity, as more people discover this engaging and exhilarating sport. With the emergence of indoor climbing walls in large towns and cities, people are allowed easy access to an activity that was previously limited by the weather and seasons.

Schools & Groups

Climbing is a great activity for school and youth groups. There are activities for all levels of ability, and our instructors have experience of working with groups with a wide spectrum of needs. We are also a provider of the NICAS scheme, so your group can show just how much they have achieved!

Corporate Events

Climbing corporate events, whether indoor or outdoor, are thrilling and stimulating activities that are both physically active and mentally challenging.
By its very nature, climbing demands high levels of trust and co-operation from participants which builds a strong bond of confidence and team spirit. Strong communication skills are required from all involved in order to develop [...]

Phase 2!!!

As we promised and as the 6 foot sign at the end of the main hall has been ’subtly’ hinting, we will be installing a Phase 2 area. For the past 18 months we have been racking our brains as to what will make the best use of this space, create something viable yet unique [...]

Welcome

Reading Climbing Centre is an exciting addition to the climbing scene in southern England. The centre is the most recent development by John Dunne, the man behind Manchester and Harrogate Climbing Centres.

John is building on a lifelong climbing career, with first ascents of many modern grit classics including New Statesman at Ilkley and Widdop Wall at Widdop. MCC chief route setter Andy Jack and British Bouldering Team member and regular route setter Dave Barrans have lead a team to provide top-quality routes for the 90 roped lines and the huge bouldering area at the centre.

There is a branch of Reading's favourite café, Picnic, on site so you can watch the action with a coffee and a cake once you’ve done your hard work! Urban Rock provide a premier climbing shop to service all your equipment and clothing needs.

This is a centre for every level, from complete beginners to the more experienced climber. RCC has fully trained instructors available for those who’ve not climbed before, as well as routes of all grades for the regular climber.

On the development of the centre, owner John Dunne said “Reading is one of the few major towns in the UK without a big climbing wall. I’m really excited to be going into a new area and bringing a great new centre to the south of England. This is set to be one of the biggest centres in the country, and we hope to continue the great route-setting, instructing and atmosphere that we have in our existing centres

Help us unlock your potential this 2012!!

277435,xcitefun-happy-new-year-2012-9[1]

So with 2011 behind us, way too much food eaten, far too many beers drunk and resolutions from 2011 not completed, here at RCC we are here to make sure 2012 is kicked off in the right direction.

Casual Climbing

We have been busy over December resetting the entire main hall with over 250 new routes on a variety of walls, grades, on top rope and lead climbs. We have also done a circuits reset in the boulder area, with the white, green, black, red, pink, purple and orange circuits not forgetting the reset of the comp circuit for the Dec University comp. This in total gives you way over 120 new problems to keep you busy until the complete reset in Jan for the joint RCC WBL/ SIBL round.

Courses

We are also running some great courses with great offers this New Year to help you learn the ropes, develop some unknown skills or just help you past that milestone.  This January if you book any Adult Beginners Course this Jan that runs in Jan, not only will you learn the skills to be a competent indoor climber, but you will also receive FREE life time membership. Already know these skills, not to worry we have a great 2 for 1 offer on our Learn to Leads to help develop some new skills.

With all these new routes and problems, plus these great courses, lets get that new year resolutions under way, whether its to loss some Christmas weight, to reach that wanted grade or to have a go at something you have never tried before, RCC has the facilities, the staff and the course for you this Jan 2012!

Happy New Year!!!
