How can we cater for your needs...
Our instructors have experience of working with groups with a wide range of additional needs.
Sessions can be tailored to the needs of the group and instructors have a range of techniques to include climbers of all abilities. Climbing can aid the development of co-ordination and motor skills, as well as giving individuals achievable goals.
For most individuals with restrictions in their movement, our assisted hoist system is available. This is set up in our main climbing wall and gives people a sense of the height and exposure that is experienced through climbing.
We are currently have a variety of disability groups that we work with on a weekly or monthly basis working on the NICAS scheme or our standard Group Climbing activities, working to develop the participants communication skills, physical development and social interactions. We hope this will lead to more groups of a similar nature, getting involved and empowering people to achieve great things through climbing!
Reading Climbing Centre has full wheelchair access to the building and disabled toilets.
