What is Soft Tissue Therapy?
Soft tissue therapy, which includes Sport and Remedial Massage, is a hands on approach to help alleviate pain, relax tense muscles, restore movement, improve mobility and enhance physical well-being .
It is suitable forpeople suffering a wide range of minor and chronic injuries or conditions caused by lifestyle factors includingsport, work, poor posture, stress, injury or chronic conditions, such as MS, and fibromyalgia.
Assessment helps identify the underlying cause which is often away from the site of the pain as your body compensates for imbalances.
Treatment includes massage and advanced soft tissue techniques, such as myofascial release, positional release technique, soft tissue release, trigger point release, neuromuscular techniques and muscle energy techniques.
Rehabilitation advice on stretching and exercise is offered, in order to help facilitate and maintain improvements.
I am a BTEC Level 5 qualified Soft Tissue Therapist and Member of the ISRM (Institute for Soft and Remedial Massage) and SMA (Sports Massage Association). I have worked as a soft tissue therapist with the Abbey Rugby Club for nearly 3 years and have experience in treating a wide range of conditions including back pain, shoulder problems, sport injuries, tension headache, arthritis and posture.
I’m also a registered pharmacist working in the NHS for many years and have always been interested in how the human body works. I’m an avid learner and more I read about how everything is interconnected, the more fascinating it becomes. The soft tissue therapy approach facilitates understanding and treating underlying imbalances and restrictions which cause discomfort and pain and prevent us from our carrying out daily activates or participating in sports as well as improving general health and wellbeing.
